3, 2, 1... GUEST STARRING!: SALVADOR LARROCA

Not everything is just american influence, because there is so much to learn from our Spanish Artists. I have followed his work since the “Age of Apocalypse” Days, over all because of his work in “XTREME X-MEN”, a real fresh style since years and years of boeing staff with the X-Family, and oh course, his work in the mini “NEW UNIVERSE”, where he started his new style, which I dont really like it, where the characters seems like famouse artists.
But I enjoy his old style, his anatomy development. Pacheco said once, that in the 90s, some people use to draw characters with all kina of gadjets on his customes, because they dont really know how to draw anatomy (yeah, we all know that we are talking about someone which name starts with R… ). But has nothing to do with Larroca, he dont have this kina of problems, because his pencils, even with gadjets and strange thing on uniforms, show a great anatomical lines, with good details, not as much as heavy muscles from Madureira. And of course, a particular skill which I aprettiate, his panels, his likes for details, every panel is as good drawed as the carácter who appears in that.

The Cover I show you today, is UNCANNY X-MEN 438 Cover, from the story arc “She lies with Angels”, a real mutant “Romeo & Juliet” version. And a great illustration from one of our best nacional artists.

3, 2, 1... GUEST STARRING!: OLIVIER COIPEL

After years reading Comic Books, it helps a lot to discover something that surprise you in a good way, and this is OLIVIER COIPEL´s example. Before I even read a Comic Book with his pencils, I discover his likes for design, it was some AVENGERS costumes designs for the Red Zone issues. And I have to say, that I fell in love with them, they were modern ones but with a classic style at the same time, Ant-man and Jack of Hearts designs were awesome, damm! Even Captain America, with his old classic cotume, looks great with his pencils. But the thing were just starting, Captain Britain, La Brigada de Demolición, Viper... and Oh my god, absolutely awesome the new Thor series, and I´m sorry guys, but the new costume rocks, better than the classic one, now he is the God of Thunder. Some fresh air for our all good coged characters. But the thing does not end there, because OLIVIER COIPEL is not just uniforms, it is also amazing escenarios, position, perspective, expressions, this guy is frikkin good, I have included him in my TOP5, hehe. Details and good pencils from this artist, simply great.

This Week, the example illustration belong to Thor nº2 new comic series, where Odinson, create Asgard in the middle of the United States. I just can say: “Woah”.

3, 2, 1... GUEST STARRING!: JOSH MIDLENTON

I think that there is something “ethereal ” in every Josh Midlenton illustration, it comes to my mind everytime I see one of his works. Like under the water, floating deep. The hair, the composition, the background, the colours. It is like that movies when the time pass very very slow, this is what i mean, just at this exact moment, that would be one of his illustrations.

I have to say, that if Huges is the artist of the “superhots”, this is the “lolita´s” one, not just about the erotic meaning, it is about his stylize figures, check any “NEW MUTANS” cover and you will see what am I talking about. And of course, keeping his style.

As an example of his work, this week I am going to use this FLASH cover, which it is not only visible the stylize style, you can also admire that ethereal effect that I was talking about, like floating in time, not running. This is a work I just can´t stop to admire.
