3, 2, 1... GUEST STARRING!: HUMBERTO RAMOS

Many years ago, I discovered a cómic book called “CRIMSON”, from “CLIFFHANGER”. The cover calls me directly, deformed lines, almost a caricature, giant eyes and feets, simple lines, but it was not a japanese work, it was an american work. I didnt know the artist, “HUMBERTO RAMOS”, but I was curious, so suffering the inquisidor way of looking at me from the girl of the shop I take a shot on this, it was a vampiro tale, fresh, dinamic, crazy, but very nice lines, even the simple ones had movement, as I said, dinamic!

With the time I follow this artist Hill the end of “CRIMSON”, and could see how his work had an evolution throught the numbers, better expresión, I really love the way he draws the eyes, even when they are just two black spots, he make them expressive. Then it was time for another Comic books, “OUT THERE”, “REVELATIONS” (not another “Davinci Code” clon…I Would have hate that) and his “MARVEL” time with “SPIDERMAN”, “CIVIL WAR: WOLVERINE”, “X-MEN” “RUNAWAYS” or “THE INITIATIVE”. But his work keep becoming better and better, even more dinamic. I remember an exposition here in Cádiz, his pencils were awesome, and I hace to say that lately, my work has been influenced by his. Not just to get a good expresión or a nice way to tell stories, it is, tha even when the characters is doing nothing, has movement, and I dont want to stop Hill I get that effect on my work.

As an example of his work, I hill post something different this time, I hended more thatn a cover to make you see what I was talking, I hill use a “OUT THERE” page. The story, The entire “EL DORADO CITY”, had sold his “soul” to a demonio creature called “Draedalus”, in change of peace and prosperity… but every demonio oath has a payback… to stop him, just tour simple kids: the quaterback Zach Mullins; his beaty and all popular girlfriend Casey Philips; the "weird" of the scholl, hispanic Jessie Santiago; and the new kid in scholl, the "geek" Marx Wexler. They will have to face the demonic threat and save his own City.

Here it is, the better example, if you look carefully, the expressions, movement, dinamic stule in a quiet situation, the way this page has been drawed, it makes even unnecesary to have the script to understand what is going on there. Humberto Ramos is, in my opinión, one of the Bigs Guys!

THE TIGER.

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

The Tiger, William Blake.

3, 2, 1... GUEST STARRING!: CHRIS BACHALO

Today in Guest Starring, I almost dont make it, just half an tour to midnight, It cames the CHRIS BACHALO turn! And honestly, I just like parto f his job, because sometimes it is very complicate to enjoy his work.

I discover CHRIS BACHALO, on the old Generation-X pages, with a very young style, and crazy, his style is like a blur, but Works anyway. Later “GENERATION-X”, I follow his work in “UNCANNY X-MEN”, his jump on “CLIFFHANGER”, with STEAMPUNK, his work in “AGE OF APOCALYPSE”, CAPTAIN AMERICA or in the mini “ULTIMATE WAR”, to finally, coma back to the X-Family. SO as I said I just enjoy part of his job, but what I enjoy more of his arts are the background, which are in moevement with his charcacter.

As example, today I Hill use a CAPTAIN AMERICA illustration, which I like particulary because of the background, a good example of the movement of the thing that are not supossed to.

EVERY DARK LEGEND..., HAS A REAL BEGIN.

Years ago, I had an Idea for a new Comic book Project, his name was “SINNERS”, halfway between CSI and CONSTANTINE World, where the “SINNERS”, was a team of investigators of paranormal activities, like private investogators. The Team was formed by Elliot Decklan and Moebious Niel Collins (who was a magical tattoo, gift of a powerfull spiritual entity called the “Ondina Carissia”), they were the only survivors of the original team; Patricia Granados, special agent from the “European Civil Guard”, Roberto de la Cruz and specialist in history and arcan science and the young Roberto "Carsons" Carzonne, which posses the paroptic vision hability, this is the hability of see things that normal people can´t, like footprints, flashbacks, flash forwards or seeing Ander the “masks”.

But even with all the ideas, I never develop more than The plot of the first store called “THE HUNT FOR EL DINGO”, where they invetigate a misterious criatura who kidnapp babys from their houses, like the Boogie man. But as a goodwill, I Hill show you the Teaset “trailer”, a bit rouge and not ended, but close to the idea I had in Mind.

Remember, EVERY DARK LEGEND HAS A REAL BEGIN....
